Power anyone?

As I woke up and was getting ready for work on Thursday morning my daughter, Kennedy who is five came down to my room to tell me outside is like the Wizard of Oz mommy and is our house going to blow away? I said, Kennedy its just the wind don't worry about it. I went upstairs to see how much wind there was, and figured how much damage could it really do? I soon found out exactly how much damage wind can do.

I left for work at 8:15 am and drove down church street in Layton to see fence after fence completely missing, debris was everywhere. I immediately called my friend Scott to let him know his rental house fence was missing that I just drove by. I kept driving and decided to jump on the freeway to go to Bountiful where I work. I drove down the on ramp and immediately thought this was a bad idea as I noticed traffic going 2 mph and semis everywhere lined the streets stopped.

I got off at the next exit and drove through Kaysville along the back roads. Again bad idea there were pine trees lining the streets that had fallen from the storm.I finally made it into work at 9:30 AM after driving a little over an hour, which normally takes about 15-20 minutes. When I walked into to work I immediately realized power was out and our management team which includes myself was in a meeting with our general manager about what to do with hotel guests.

While we were waiting for the power to come back on and sent some employees home, a water pipe broke in the hotel and we didn't realize it until one of our employees was setting up the meeting room on the first floor as it was "raining inside". Our maintenance manager immediately found the leak and shut off the water. Only problem was the leak occurred just above the 4th floor and it leaked through each floor saturating 7 hotel rooms.

(Here is a picture of one of our damaged rooms)

Our General Manager called Serv Pro, who came out within 45 minutes and starting to dry out the hotel. We then evacuated our guests after an update from the power company saying it could take up to 48 hrs to regain power.

Our power did finally come back on 39 hours later, and we finally re-opened the hotel on saturday, with only a few fans still running drying out the rooms.
